Step into the world of the Winter Olympics, exploring how the Games began, how they’ve evolved, and why they continue to captivate audiences around the globe. This course examines historic moments, legendary athletes, and the origins and rules of major winter sports. Students will learn how global events, technology, climate, and culture influence the Games—and how to identify key elements when watching Olympic events today.
We will also preview the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan–Cortina, exploring new sports, host city traditions, and athletes to watch. Through interactive video clips, guided research, athlete spotlights, and behind-the-scenes explorations of training, budgeting, host-city planning, and media coverage, students will deepen their research, critical thinking, and event-analysis skills.
